ALBANY, N.Y.(NEWS 10)-- According to Governor Kathy Hochul, law enforcement has identified a person of interest as a part of the investigation into anti-Semitic threats at Cornell University. The person is in New York State Police custody for questioning. In the days and weeks since Hamas attacked Israel, leaders at both the state and federal level say there has been an increase in hate crimes and threats."For Jewish and Muslim New Yorkers alike, the pain is deep," said Hochul, during an address on Tuesday. ST. LOUIS - A St. Louis man who helped at least 20 people file fraudulent pandemic loan applications that reaped $666,656 will spend several years behind bars. A federal judge sentenced Jacob Eldridge, 45, to four years and nine months in prison on Tuesday in connection with the crimes, ranging from Jan. 1, 2021 to Jan. 13, 2022. Prosecutors wonder about other victims after deathbed scam Investigators say Eldridge solicited at least 20 friends and acquaintances to file fraudulent applications for PPP loans. These loans were intended to help struggling business owners and their employees during the COVID-19 pandemic. A man died overnight Sunday after a tractor-trailer truck hit the car he was trying to reattach to a tow strap in the center lane of Interstate 70 in Wheat Ridge.The crash happened about 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 near Carr Street, the Wheat Ridge Police Department reported Tuesday on X.Wheat Ridge Police officers responded to a crash on I-70 eastbound near Carr St. just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday night. Denver’s Country Club neighborhood has snagged a big catch.Littleton fly fishing shop Anglers All is moving into the retail space at 1303 E. 6th Ave., formerly home to Trouts Fly Fishing.Anglers All owner Chris Keeley, a Platt Park resident, said he wanted to expand to Denver for years but hadn’t found the right spot until now.“We’re one of, if not the oldest continuous fly shop in the state of Colorado,” Keeley said. “We’re proud of it. 40-Year-Old Motorcyclist Fatally Struck in Box-Truck Collision near Campbell AvenueTUCSON, AZ (October 31, 2023) – Jason Andres Bentley died Tuesday night in a DUI motorcycle accident on Prince Road.The incident occurred around 10:00 p.m., near Campbell Avenue on October 17th.Per reports, the driver of a box-truck was traveling east and drove diagonally across all lanes for reasons unknown. OAKLAND — An Oakland man who was acquitted of murder but convicted of manslaughter has been sentenced to 11 years and eight months behind bars for killing an El Cerrito man in 2019, court records show.Jevanni Knight, 26, argued in his July trial that he shot and killed 41-year-old Michael Sadberry as Sadberry attacked Knight’s childhood friend. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Firefighters responding to a one-alarm fire near the Castro District have brought the blaze under control, according to a tweet from the San Francisco Fire Department. The blaze was located in what looks like a residential structure located at 255 Hartford Street. Body found in suitcase floating in Lake Merritt Tuesday Video from the scene shows several firefighters at the scene and a ladder truck on the street. In a subsequent tweet, SFFD identified the blaze as an electrical fire and said it was under control.
